About me

Hello, I'm Ole. I'm an astrophysicist working in the field of X-ray astronomy. I studied physics and did my PhD at the Friedrich-Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (Germany) and am now a postdoctoral researcher at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge, USA.

In my free time I like to do outdoor activities. Climbing, parkour, surfing and running belong to my interests but I'm always excited to try out new things. I also like shooting with my analog film camera.

The violent and energetic universe

Astrophysics

The field of X-ray astronomy deals with some of the most extreme objects in the universe - Black holes, neutron stars, and white dwarfs. Although these objects are bejond human imagination we can use telescopes in space to study their light.

Stories of a climber

Climbing

Ever since I've been climbing. This passion brought me to many places. From Germany, the Alps, Yosemite in the USA, Southern Africa, Iceland, the Himalayas and South East Asia. I love adventures - the bigger, the better.
