The Origin of Gamma-Ray Flares in AGN Jets | Image & Movie Gallery |
Most of my
research has to do with multiwavelength observations of
active galactic nuclei (AGN). This collage shows the main ingredients:
bright compact radio cores at the center of active galaxies are
resolved to milliarcsecond-scale relativistic jets with VLBI
observations; the VLBI
jets show rapidly moving (sometimes superluminal) components, ejected
from the core in bright outbursts; multiwavelength observations, in
particular X-ray and
gamma-ray observations with satellites, allow the broadband emission of
these jets, their formation and evolution to be studied. Have a look at the website
on "radio activities" of the GLAST/LAT AGN Science Working Group that I
maintain together with Greg Taylor and Lars Fuhrmann.
