Our Institute is located in the City of Bamberg. The Dr. Remeis-Sternwarte was founded in 1889 as a private foundation. In 1962 it became affiliated with the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg as its Astronomical Institute in the Faculty of Science I for Mathematics & Physics. The scientists working at the Remeis-Sternwarte are teaching astrophysics at the University in Erlangen and are working in several astrophysical research projects. Astronomy / Astrophysics is an integral part of modern physics, and a university degree can only be obtained in the frame of full physics studies.
